No change for Labour
Letter by Bill Paterson, January 2009
I don't understand why your writer thinks a New Labour victory in Glenrothes is good for socialism (Frontlines, Socialist Review, December 2008).
In the first instance, a loss or bloody nose for Brown is a good thing. New Labour is not going to give way to a socialist Labour because of the financial crisis.
It has long been hoped that an independent Scotland would enable socialism to emerge in the Scottish Parliament through a proportional representation system.
